As a Republican Assistant Leader and a long-serving member of the powerful Appropriations Committee, the Education Committee, and a leader on the state's Aging Committee, Mitch provides oversight and direction to many high-impact matters in Hartford. This, and his unassuming way of working both sides of the aisle, have built him a reputation as a reliable partner in all legislative business. His results, and multiple "Legislator of the Year" honors speak for themselves, and his productivity for Newtown is substantial.
For a "Short Session", 2024 was a busy legislative year with many important bills introduced or co-sponsored by Rep. Bolinsky. Of note is the diversity of his legislation, from local and cottage bills requested by constituents, to 2024's groundbreaking Medicare reform package to support the 'Aging-in-Place' preferences of seniors and caregivers; from preserving school-safety drills, to added protections for domestic violence prevention, and veterans' tax relief, Bolinsky is no stranger to policy having statewide, and even national impact.
From fiscal policy for a more affordable Connecticut, to supporting law enforcement & public safety; to defending Newtown's "Fair-Share" Educational Cost Sharing and Municipal Revenue Sharing dollars, Mitch is always on point for us. He's a strong voice in Initiatives including Special-Education, Aging, Mental Health, Fair Employment, Balanced-Budget Policy, Veteran's Issues, Manufacturing Apprenticeships and so much more.
